Steve is currently in 2nd place in the BASS tourny on Tenn. river in Knoxville and there's several comments on another thread about what a nice guy Steve is....I've known and fished against Steve and his dad (Van Kennedy) since the early 80's and not only are they both great fishermen but they are great people as well.
back in mid to late 80's ,Steve was a teenager and started fishing Redman trail with his dad as a no-boater...I drew Steve as my no boater at a Eufaula tourny about this time of the year....I'd found some fish on a spinnerbait fish back in an area called the "witches ditch"....large shallow flats and fish were up there spawning and cruising....I was throwing a spinnerbait and Steve was fishing with the most ragged buzzbait you ever saw...darn thing would flop over its side, dive under the water and even run sideways but about once an hour,a 5-6lb fish would crush it...after he had caught about 3 big bass,I switched over to a buzzbait that the fish wouldn't touch....I ended up with a decent limit and got a small check but Steve had close to 25lbs and almost won the tourny....

There was once a nice documentary film about him available on youtube. My wife even watched and enjoyed it. I haven't checked to see if it's there lately.

I’ve always wondered how Steve Kennedy stays on the elites with minimal sponsors and expenses very high. Every other pro has commented how they wouldn’t be on the elites without the help of sponsorship. With Steve Kennedy being the exception it makes me wonder how he does it. He seems like a good guy and a fun person to fish with. Definitely one of my favorites on the elite series

Love that documentary. He seems so humble he’s embarrassed that people want his opinion on stuff and to listen to him talk. Just seems like a good dude. I’d love to fish with him. He’d be in my top 5.

His percentage of getting a check is crazy high.

He's been consistent the majority of his elite career. I bet his entries are taken care of. Solid guy

I would take his recommendation on products before someone that gets paid to "sell" products! cheers

For starters, the documentary on him (dated 2015) indicated that his career earnings at that time were over $2.1 million. I'd say that he's probably built up a decent cushion to be able to afford to fish.

He's not just treading water....in that sense...would be a blast to share a day in the boat with him for sure....

I'd like to see what he would do on the Bell throwing his trusty Basstrix out there....
