My wife and I went to Shuck me in Southlake last Sunday for a late lunch/ early dinner. I know the owner is a member here, so I thought I would give an honest, unbiased review.

Scale: 1-5 (5 being outstanding)

Atmosphere: 5

The atmosphere and decor is outstanding. Very homey and fishing oriented. Lots of pictures on the wall of him with some outstanding fish, and I'm sure there are more than a few TFF members on the wall as well. The place was super clean and the staff was friendly. I especially liked the bar in the back where you can drink, watch a game, and not have to listen to a bunch of parents telling their kid for the tenth time to sit the f*ck down. The size of the place is deceiving as it is long and deep. bigger than it appears from the outside. Seating is such that you can actually fit a large group at the same table. I saw a booth that had to seat at least 10. The tables are far enough away from each other that you can enjoy your food with out catching an elbow from the table behind you in the back of the head. Also a nice touch is the "backyard" behind the building. A large fenced grass yard where the kids can play, the dogs can poop, and people can just hang out.

Food: 4

I'm giving the food a 4 instead of a 5 only because the margarita's were a fail for me. Way to sour, almost to the point my mouth resembled a feature located between my buttocks. But hey, that's just my opinion, others may like them that way. The food was excellent. We had cold peel and eat shrimp - very firm and tasty, fried pickles - my wife is a very critical judge of these, and she loved them. The batter actually stayed on when you dipped them in the ranch dressing (which was excellent too), Shrimp Diablo - Bubba Gump would approve! They are jalapeno poppers stuffed with cheese and shrimp, wrapped in bacon and deep fried. Getcha some! They have a large selection of seafood, including gumbo and jambalaya. Crab, oysters, obviously Shrimp, and even Catfish. We will definitely be back.

Service: 5

Service is strictly counter service. Order at the counter, get a thingy that buzzes when its ready, pick up from the counter. Not much to it right? Wrong. A lot of places the counter workers are bored, in a hurry, and pissed off because you made them look up from their phone. The young man at the register was very helpful in explaining the menu and what certain items were. He was patient, friendly and fast. The cook staff knew what they were doing and the food was cooked perfectly and out to us very quickly. No one stood around. IF there were no customers at the counter, staff was busy cleaning up or bussing tables, Did I mention this place was CLEAN? Didn't visit the potty; but I'm willing to bet it was manicured too.

Price: 4

I found the pricing to be very reasonable. Not cheap, not overly expensive. I had no problem paying what I did for the quality of food I received. (except for the margarita)

Overall rating and Suggestions: 4+

My wife and I both loved the place. We told several of our friends and all of our family. We plan to visit again with the whole bunch in tow. (My kids, Grandkids, and maybe my dog) I highly recommend you give the place a try.

Only a few suggestions - Fix the dam margarita. (you knew that was coming) Obviously we like shrimp. You offer hot shrimp by the pound, and cold by the dozen. My wife and I are not a fan of hot boiled shrimp. I know that is how they do it in Cajun country; but we aren't IN Cajun country. If you offered cold shrimp by the pound, I might have cleaned you out; regardless, we still managed to put away 4 dozen.

That's it. That's the review. No fluff, no bullsh*t. If I had found more wrong, I would have told you. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Zipster out.

Thanks for the review-
Sounds good, although I would probably like those margaritas, sour is how I like them.

HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!

We've only carried out at Shuck Me, Southlake, and I was very impressed with the food. Didn't have any take-out margaritas.....I would highly recommend them.

Highly recommend Shuck Me. One of our favorite places to eat out. Great food, huge menu and casual atmosphere.

What's the name of your place in Keller? Bottlecap Alley isn't near what it used to be when you had it.
