Last spring we went all winter without catching many fish at Lavon. One day we're out there and we see 20 boats in one spot. We join the party and catch 50+ white bass in a day... That was fun. Question is, when does this start? I don't want to be late to the party this year... Thanks

The fish are always there, you have to find them with your electronics and hope they are hungry. One of my customers has been fishing Lewisville and catching them using his thumper and dropping cut bait and small plastics like a 3” Gulp minnow... ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2021/02/full-56976-86805-32ecada9_33a6_4db3_9353_f77ac58e9515.jpeg)

Lavon has the white bass. I find them and sometimes they don't want to bite. We did good in the spring fishing rip rap with minnows near dusk. The bite was really good in April las year in only 7-8 FOW. In the summer the deeper points and humps on the main lake were hit and miss for me. I hear follow the birds. I tried that. Would throw the Ratt'l traps and shad swim baits, but no bites. Wish I could help more but I'm still new at all of this. Experience seems to be the best tool on your boat. I just began fishing last year. I have had fun learning all about finding and catching fish. We did good in June and July last year near the dam. Very excited to see what this year brings.
You ain’t gonna catch any sittin’ on the couch.

I fish Lavon a lot and I do it without electronics, but it makes it difficult. For starters, if you start at Mallard you can hang out under the train bridge. What I do that always gets more bites than anything is to put two small baitfish on one hook. Put one facing each direction. Again from Mallard, if you're going towards and under the train bridge to the right is a cove. The mouth of the cove just inside the main boatway has a drop off that always has some fish. Then I go all the way around the edge of the cove, you'll be surprised how many are in the shallow water in the back. A lot come from the rocks. After going around the cove I make an X through it. There is a little drop and two holes that you can catch if you do the X. There, A spin-tail jig that is flashy always works good. If they are stubborn, something similar that makes noise (rattle or buzz) usually does it.

They are letting water out of Lavon right now. I crossed the bridge on 78 around 1:00 and saw a guy walking down the road with a stringer of fish.

Schooling whites are in the summer time. Have fun!
