Headed to the ol family vacation in June. Looking to take my father/brother in-law out for a day of redfish/trout action inshore. If you have a guide you've used in the past, please share their info. And I am NOT a saltwater guy, so slap me if this is stupid, but what happens to a bass boat if you put it in the bay? Assuming you need some sort of good wash down and then a motor rinse out? Im NOT taking my boat, I was just curious.

I'd never put a bassboat in salt water and if I did, I'd use salt away on that thing the second it left the bay. As far as Destin...inshore really isn't that great. The offshore game is the way to go. You can walk the docks and find several decent boats to charter or if you are open to a party boat, the Swoop is a good boat and you'll come back with your limit in vermillion snapper (and/or red snapper depending on the time they open the season)
I've fished the area for 15 years and if someone is an experienced saltwater fisherman, on most days, the weather/water conditions are decent enough to take a 20ft bay boat 10 miles offshore. There are so many reefs and the bait plentiful, I just dragged my boat there versus chartering.

If you want a great bay fishing trip call Captain Dalton Morrison. ( 850 543 2296). I have fish with him the last 3 years. He will put you on the fish. Trout and Big reds. He is a great young guide that works hard to make a great fishing experience.
