We all think "goods and services" cost to much. If you have never owned a business you just don't get how much it is "to be in business for yourself". Most things are priced about where they should be so if that doesn't work just move on down the road and find another business to patronize. Emergency services are just that--Emergency: so they are not going to be $50 an hour labor.

Like the saying goes, it's not $200 to turn a screw. It's $200 to know which screw to turn.
Pay up.

Did a job today it was only 500 I stopped right there. A $500 job is nothing to you. Do you carry Vaseline with you?

If they knew what a plumber makes an hour they would be happy with your price. Some plumbers charge extra if they have to get wet and dirty to boot

It probably costs at least $120 an hour to have a mechanic fix your outboard engine. And that's when they can get to it. Emergency plumbing work is easily worth that.
Like cocodrie said, "you pay for what the man knows, not what he does." If you don't want to pay $120 per hour to have your plumbing fixed, then why in the world would you pay that to fix your boat motor. Which one can you live without?

Maybe they are just not wanting to be realistic and ignoring the fact Plumbers are hard to find and schedule after this storm. Sorry for you and all the others out there going the extra effort and some not showing appreciation for your efforts.

I would reccomend playing the long game, you are gonna get alot of calls from new people. Good opportunity to grow your biz for years to come. Or make a quick buck and it is what it is. That's my 2 cents.

My mechanic isn't cheap, but I trust him. That's huge for me.

I've worked for people for 20 years doing all kinds of plumbing, electrical, and house repairs inside and outside. My personal business motto was to meet my customers in the grocery, and they would speak to me. Since most became friends, I believe I was successful and will never be accused of overcharging. Treat people like you want to be treated at any level, and there will be no hard feelings.

That seems like a bargain. When I was running our roofing co, we nearly wouldn’t pull a ladder out for less than $300. We’d tell them over the phone.
You could easily charge more, and if you’re only doing repairs you’re probably still losing money unless you collect it before you get back in your truck. Open yourself up to a lot of other issues doing repair work also, people don’t realize that. End up with terrible customers you can’t ever make happy.
