so, if the power was on, but it was partially empty, is that a huge problem? Our water is hot, so I'm assuming it's ok. it's electric.

Only if the water gets below the elements. They will be behind the covers on the front if that helps you determine the level. They are really easy to replace if you find the top one burned out.

It’s a hot water maintainer? Yea, why are you heating hot water? Seems redundant to me...

technically it only heats cold water once... then after that, it maintains the "hot" water by heating it..... there fore it is a "hot water" heater.... I got your 6 Bigbob_FTW

How did you partially empty it? the water in the city was cut off. The tank doesn’t empty. It takes water pressure to push water out of it.

They will siphon done some, especially if installed above the outlet with no vacuum breaker. I made a hydrogen peroxide injector for our ranch house. I have to shut the water off and drain pressure off the water heater often. I’ve never had the water go lower than 32oz in the tank during the process. And I’ve never seen a water heater with a sight glass for the water level and I’ve been doing this all my life.
