I bought a thumper probably 6 weeks ago but haven't been able to go out and try it. I am hoping to take my step son out Saturday and let him catch some whites and/or stripers. I was wondering if anyone know which lake might be best this time of year for whites/stripers? Thanks... and any pointers would be appreciated...hoping to let him have a blast catching some....

I wish I could help but Iām not familiar with those lakes. Good luck with your thumper and I hope you and your kiddo have a great day.

Still house does not have any Hybrids, Belton has Hybrids but no stripers, both have White bass. I don't know lake Bucanan. If you want to go out on Belton or Still house Go with Bob Maindelle https://www.holdingthelineguideservice.com/ He is a catch and release guide, but he will put you on fish and is great at instruction on fishing techniques, how to use electronics and is a general all around nice person.

Thanks. I actually bought some lures from Bob. Think I will try Buchanan. Maybe try some points off the main river channel?

The fish are getting close to the spawn and should be close to the river where it comes into the lake. I would try the north end of the lake.

Keep in mind on Buch this time of year everybody and their dog is going to be on the North end. There will be plenty of unmolested fish on the south end and mid lake and not near the circus.

Thanks...good point. Will try mid lake, then south, and if we just have no luck, go north..lol Figured with a thumper and electronics I will find some south and mid lake...it is only us two so don't need a huge school to enjoy it.

Well, I went out last Saturday. Found a few and turned my thumper on, and probably had 40 or more under the boat. They were around 40' down. Caught some, but moved to another spot. After 15-20 mins had a good number under the boat again. Caught probably around 40 in 4 hours. My step son had a blast. We only kept 4 whites...he wasn't sure if he liked white bass. We fried it up the next day, he does like it. Didn't catch any big stripers, only small ones. I didn't use any live bait, not sure if that was why or not. Caught everything on a slab with a stinger hook from Bob.
