What are your tires mounted on? What type of vehicle? 2013 Toyota Tundra. Toyo all-terrain tires on my Tundra. They worked great.

If I’ve learned anything from this storm is that I need a set of winter tires for driving.
When I was younger I remember we bought Cooper tires that had an aggressive, self cleaning thread. Not sure if they lasted forever but you could drive in most anything.
What tires have you had a good experience with driving on the ice and snow???
Best snow tires are ones with a tighter not open tread pattern. With snow you don't want a self cleaning tire. Mud is the opposite. Snow sticks to snow better then rubber. When I went school in West Virginia we changed out our summer tires for studded snow tires. I have KO2s on my truck and they did OK but I stayed in 4wd while on snow covered roads. I am more likely to encounter mud then snow so I am going to stick with an open tread. KO2s are not a good tire in mud so they are not on my list.

I retired after 35 years with Cooper. The AT3 is a good all around tire. Works well in the snow but definitely not a mud tire. If you're buying for a car the CS5 is good in the snow and has a great ride. I have the AT3's on my F150 and they have handled this mess just fine.
Cooper makes a true snow tire. They have a really soft tread compound (which means they're good for maybe 20,000 miles) and will accept snow spikes. Never ran them, no need for them in Mississippi.

Get the snowflake rated tires and you should be good. Winter tires have a different compound of rubber usually, softer. We run DuraTracs, work great in our dry snow.

The reality is that it will be another 15 years before we get a snow lasting longer than 48 hours in Texas. No reason to let last week drive my decisions moving forward.

I have the Wildpeak AT3W ‘s on my 2020 F150. On my ‘14 I had BFG KO’s. On my 17 I had Nitto G2’s. The Wildpeaks are my favorite AT so far.

Have the same and love them. Mud, sand, snow and rain and they've been great. Had Coopers and took them off due to road noise.

I've got the Nitto G2's on my F150 4x4 - and couldn't have been happier. Those dudes grabbed hold and went. As long as I kept it in 4, wherever I pointed it, it went. Coopers on our 4Runner think the tire below the AT3 - it's pretty worthless on the snow unless it's flat. This was what most of WF looked like last week. One of those, pics don't do it justice pics...

I have the General Grabber 33" tires on my F150. Rarely used my 4wd all week. Really happy with the way they handled the snow/ice but even better in rain and mud.

I had a set of metal studded tires for my first car. Pain to take off and on, and used them very little, but they did help quite a bit back then.
