No not a first gen. The deal is when man gets involved he usually screws it up and numbers don't lie. I am not a fan of the program and I have done enough research on it to believe it can hurt a lake.

In fact these two entries just did. They won't be spawning their genetics in that lake this year or maybe never again. I know of a fish that went into the program full of eggs and was there 18 months and never spawned.

Now you tell me how that helps the lake which it came from ? This is not the only one and how many died. You can not build your genetics up and loan them out and expect to still have them in your lake.

You will never be able to convince me a ride in a tank truck to a unnatural environment and putting that fish in a tank and with the male you choose and not one she chose is ever a safe bet or a good thing.

I can guarantee you if a fisherman got on here and said I put a fish in my live well and hauled him 300 plus miles to put her in a concrete tank and watch her try and spawn in captivity. There would be a uproar about it.

If people would just do the research with a open mind I think they would see this is not good. IMO Taking the chance with a Trophy that takes long to grow and a chance of killing it in a day or two or at all just for the glory.

I know Texas is better with Florida Strain no doubt not questioning that but to my knowledge this one 16.40 maybe the first off the program that has came from the Lunker program. Most if not all The top 50 were from fish Texas bought from Florida not any that they raised.

The program is separate from the TPW programs so the fish are not kept in the same tank so I have been told. Two separate programs. Because of this program Fork IMO suffered with all the genetics going all over the state vs staying home.

I've fished Ivie a bunch and I can tell you that 99% of the people that show up and aren't familiar with the lake ain't gonna catch squat. But maybe they'll buy some gas and eat some burgers, so at least we got that going.

I see your point. However at least Texas does stuff to help their waters. Kansas doesn't do [censored]! NOTHING. They don't ever care about bass. It's all about wipers and in some places, walleye. And even that, they aren't great at any one specifically.
