Doesn’t Bass Pro price match? Not worth the trouble to me.

Give JM time and he'll own both Tackle Warehouse and Academy, he's trying to buy up all the competition just like all the boat brands he's bought just to get rid of them. Pretty soon it's going to be like the old Ma Bell type of thing.

If I need a rod, reel, or package of something in a particular color today I want to be able to walk in somewhere and get it today, not when it comes in the mail.

I don't think twice about where I am going to get my stuff...TW.
I haven't gone to BP in years and especially Academy.

I only wish TW had a store front here in the Metroplex

Well BPS does have this going for it...

Plus I can hit the local BPS (about 3 miles north of me) and pick up some 50% off Seaguar, the new Ott Defoe OG crankbait and a DT6 and I'm out the door with products in a bag with Loyalty Points to boot... With TW I never would have bought the OG crankbait because I have to touch, fell and look before I invest in a new lure... BPS has the experience you can't get from a website... Last time I bought from TW half the items were on back order and the shipping was a circus. Shipping isn't TW fault but it does add to the whole TW experience... Dan

The difference is convenience. Bass Pro is a retail store scattered all across the USA, that people can go to when they need it now. They may not have exactly what you want but people usually buy something similar. TW is online and if you don't plan ahead you will be waiting for your baits.

If i am buying something for the first time, I want to touch it and examine it. I can't do that at TW. If i know what I want and have used it before, I order from TW.

feel

So I have to know what they said about you tearing into the package right there in the aisle to touch and feel the OG and when you checked out with the package torn open. Hopefully you preserved the barcode.

Two associates were standing right there as I caressed it. The OG packaging is totally different than the other Rapala packaging... No tearing at all, easy entry, no signs of breaking and entering. They're were discussing rearranging the store and move products around to which I voiced my disapproval to... I know where everything is and now they're gonna make me search (the whole point)... Yea, for sure! im fully aware of how successful bass pro is!....but that doesnt mean it still doesnt blow my mind to see after I walk into the 2 I have in the past and my local cabelas. I dont go as often since its on the other side of town....but ive NEVER caught a good sale at Cabelas and when i look at bass pro online, and remember how overpriced things were in the Vegas and PHX ones....it really does blow my mind.

I didnt type it...but I figured it had to be a mix of convenience and the "experience" since im sure most people who walk in at least buy a fudge or something if not there to shop for outdoor gear. But hell....im good enough at planning to have a 2-3 day buffer before i have to have something...and thats probably why this is so mind blowing. But yea, nothing beats needing something and being able to drive a few min to grab it.....even if it is over priced.

also...they didnt a few months/year ago....but they price match Tacklewarehouse now, which is huge and now that I know ill probably go there more because price is most important to me personally even though thats not the case for everyone

Seems like we were complaining about Tackle warehouse a few months ago. These type of posts are funny. I guess so many need something to complain about.

I still love tackle warehouse prices, selections, and all the reviews. They are the best. HOWEVER, they need to get back on the ball with their shipping. I'll order other places now just because their shipping times are awful now. they use to have the 2 days hipping for $5, now its $20 and not guaranteed. When you fish and you want something 'NOW', they have been crappy since the pandemic. I give them a free pass for a while, but they need to step it back up. I can read their reviews and buy somewhere else for the same price with faster shipping. Just my 2 cents.

TW has IMO one of the easiest websites to navigate and shop. Searching for stuff on Bass Pro's site is a beating. Bass Pro sold out to the tourist crowd a long time ago. When I go to buy fishing tackle I don't need Ice Cream, Fudge and stuffed animals.
