I'm certain this will spark a debate what with all of the talk pre-blizzard being that spawn would take place with the upcoming full moon. Do you (still) expect a spawn over the last weekend in February? Do you think the bass will wait for the next full moon in late March? Do you think they will do their thing somewhere between the two moons?
I never put much stock in the moon phases affecting much more than feeding habits of animals except where cows and horses are concerned because I think water temps and weather patterns play a much larger role for fish.
That said I am thoroughly perplexed as to when the fish will do the dance with no pants, the horizontal mambo, the funky monkey, the...well you get the idea.
I didn't lose him at the boat. I shook him off cause I didn't want my hands to get "fishy"

I believe that some, usually the biggest, will do their thing once temps get over 50. The bigger fish with swollen out bellies gotta get it going cause they're miserable. The majority will spawn at cooler temps than normal. I say that first wave full blown spawn will be happening at 55 degrees this year. JMO.....

I think as temps creep back up this week the fish will get right back where they were before the storm. Historically I have found a few fish on beds at Fork towards the end of February as long as water temps are 50ish as noted above.

The bass won't remember we had a record cold winter once the water temp hits 55. They also can't read a calendar. They will start doing their thing!

By the looks of some big fish catchee the past few days the fish might be less bothered than were by the front.

When the babies are ready they will come, mother nature will take over. The weather will definitely have some kind of negative effect on the spawn this year hopefully at a minimum.

To those talking about water temps being 55, we had water temps near 58 prior to the front, wouldn't they have spawned then if it was solely based on water temps?
I agree with the notion that it'll happen when they're ready and some will be ready quicker than others. I will certainly be on the water this weekend to make sure I get in on it if it happens!

Some had already pulled up out here on lbj and Buchanan. They aren't far off with 70 degree days.

I caught 2 fat females on a trap today, in 3-4 feet of water casting in between huge sheets of ice.

I believe we will still be "on schedule " for the most part. Not much on size, but we did land 6 today on Lewisville, after idling through some ice. It melted very quickly. One of my best spawn days there was 56.8 degree water.
