Those of you that have one of these around the house.....I need to ask what is the most popular brand available now days and what's the average PSI rating for home use? 3000psi etc. and in the $300-$350 price range.

Opinions vary, but I've seen Excel and Simpson have some quality units - generally in the commercial line. In the price range you mention, I don't think you can anything beyond something in the "consumer throw-away" category. By that, I mean that the pumps on them are often a full R&R for service (no rebuild possible, no components available), and that costs as much as a new pressure washer would at retail. Years ago, I learned about this the hard way. I had one fail, took it to a shop. The owner explained it wasn't worth working on due to economics of buying a full replacement pump. Good pumps are rebuildable at costs much less than a new unit would cost.

Many will list a pressure rating in the 2800-3300 range, and that's plenty for most typical things. What gets you is whether it delivers any appreciable water volume at that pressure. Some play spec games by pushing a good PSI, but with very low water flow. Be sure to look at GPM also.

You can help extend the life of any unit you buy with proper care of the pump. RV antifreeze (for the tanks) is mentioned by many owner manuals as approved for pump storage. This isn't about freezing, necessarily. RV antifreeze also has lubricants in it for the seals in RV plumbing systems, and these are also good for pressure. I use a cut-off garden hose & funnel to put a couple shots through mine pulling the starter rope with no spark. That and Sta-bil have made my current pressure washer easy on the owner for several years now.

I like my Power Horse. I think that is the brand. It's a 3,000 psi.
I like it because it's a Northern Tool brand item and a Northern Tool store is in my area.
I can get what ever part I need and they have a servicing department if it's something I can't work on. Any part, accessory, etc. I want is at a store I can walk into. To me that is the biggest benefit.

I have a 2800psi Craftsman. Always starts on second pull cold and first pull warm. Picked it up a few years ago when my local Sears was liquidating for around $200.

I want one. I have been looking at them for years.

Consumer reports and a few other online reviewers kinda said the same thing. Get one with a Honda engine. 5 Hp or better.

I have a Simpson 3000# that is perfect for what I use it for. Cleaning my smoker grills and plates, sidewalk and patio, and for washing the underside of my truck.
