My brothers 2 acre pond is completely froze over. Do y’all think the bass will survive?

Back in the 80s our ponds froze and I don’t think it killed any fish at all.

I hope you guys are right because he has some tanks swimming in it. Everything I’ve read says it’s pretty much 50/50

The ice is only a few inches thick. You have plenty of good oxygen concentrated water below.

No worries, the sportfish will be ok. If there were tilapia or threadfin shad, they're dead already. Everything else can handle a week of ice/snow coverage.

Everything will be Ok. Our reservoirs freeze over every few years and the fish, shad, turtles and snakes all make it... Dan

they are buried in the mud in hibernation, frogs as well.

I had to drain one of our duck lakes the week season ended and flushed about 6 dinner worthy bullfrogs out of the mud in the pipe.

Turtles live under ice all winter long in the north. They drop their metabolic rate to about zero and absorbed just enough oxygen somehow or another to stay alive. Strange creatures.

They will make it, northern strain they are made for it, floridas wouldn't be happy but will live fine.
