Whatโs this freezing temperatures for several days going to do to your 10-15 onions?

they'll freeze if not covered, and might freeze anyway...but the bulb is in the ground, so if the tops do freeze, hopefully the bulb will survive and produce...if u have leaf mulch, cover them ... i put a cloth over mine ... as i said in another post, i lost a crop due to weather like this and they came up after the ground warmed...

I'm covering mine when I get home today. Got a heavy duty cloth drop cloth and some 4mil plastic ones I'm going to use. Good thing is I put a chicken wire fence around mine to keep stray cats out of it so I can drape it right over the fence and easily keep it off the onions. Hope they make it.

Going to cover my onions with oak leaves then a piece of shade cloth to hold them in place. I will be putting large pots over my lettuce and cabbage plants. I have already mulched my strawberries and putting a piece of plywood over the top of the raised bed. Nothing ventured nothing gained, but I sure would like to save these as they have been in the ground for over a month.

Procrastination has served me well this round. I did that years ago and we got a foot of snow and could till for at least a week. My potatoes and onion bulbs went in a week ago. They are just bulbs buried in dirt. Should be fine especially with 6" of snow on top.
