I'm thinking of taking a couple days off and heading down there in a few weeks. It's been about 10 years since I have been there and we stayed exclusively in the Rough Canyon area then. Is there much of a concern with the nets from the Mexican fisherman if I venture south of the border?

The ones I have always seen, were usually marked somewhat decently with bottles.

Burro has two small camps and I don’t think they are fishing much. Never saw anyone else on the entire Mexican side so you shouldn’t have an issue at all.

Be very considerate of the Mexico side. If you see a netter stay clear. Carry extra Cokes and Candy Bars when you meet someone that may appreciate your gesture. Offer your kindness so we can continue to fish on that side of the lake, worry free. Never cut a NET that you may get snagged in. Take your time and work your way out of it the best you can. Do not mess with a man's LIVELY Hood. That is how they make a living and we must respect that.

You will not find any nets on the U.S. side on Amistad. I have found a few on Falcon.

Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success.

After growing up on the lake, this is spot on!

Surely you jest..
I saw no less than 5 boats working nets this last week. Some will leave the end floats above water. Some leave them just below the surface.

I usually fish the Mexico side near Box Canyon and like I said, never see nets there.

The netters are prevalent from the rain god up past Burro.

No kidding. Proof you’re getting old: you don’t understand an emoji following a statement means “I was kidding”! “ bolt” Seriously though, I’m guessing the tilapia population is way less at Amistad than Falcon because the nets on Falcon at times are EVERYWHERE on the Mexican side up in the shallows. Years ago when the lake filled completely(above full pool) you couldn’t go to the backs of the coves without encountering nets all over the place. Had to really keep an eye out because they ran completely across the openings back in these creeks/coves. Many didn’t have enough floats on top to keep them on the surface and visible. Wrapped up in your prop was a mess! It took a while to get free. OK: y’all can start w/the explanations of what the Mexican fisherman do for a living...... wink grin
