Planning to hit the good ol Motel 6 in Del Rio the week of the Border Bass Battle. I have 0 hotel experience when hauling a boat...but i did call the Motel 6 to ask them if I could charge my boat while I stayed. They said they had some outlets, which is great....but I imagine they only have so many of them. I can get by with 2 days on my TM batteries, but really need to charge my battery for my 2 graphs daily....so daily outlet access will be a must.

I got a big thick guage extension (https://www.harborfreight.com/three-way-grounded-power-outlet-45185.html) that I plug my TM and Graph up to, and I have an extra slot. Hoping that can help the cause. I know most of you probably stay at places where charging is not issue, but hope some of you slum it like me and can offer some tips. Planning to stay 10 days so really hoping some of your alls experience can help me figure out expectations...and to plan accordingly if theres something I need do/buy. Hoping its not one of those things where I gotta get off the water early just to secure an outlet ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿค”

At night you will hear the roaches running across the floor, it was a nasty place so you are one heck of a guy to gut it out for 10 days. my advice is if you have to stay in a motel go to the Ramada, cleaner, and boat parking is better there. Just my opionion and i hope the fishin is better for you because it was pretty tough down there the last few days for us for anything of size.

im used to slumming the motel 6s here at elephant butte...I hope texas will have higher standards for their motel 6s than new mexico! lol

I can stay for 10 days partly because the room cost. ramada is 100 nightly and motel 6 is 40....so Im hoping its about the same slumming level as the ones down here. I usually just sleep on top of the bed...dont touch the sheets...just pick out some pillows and lay on top of all the linens....gotta adapt when you slum it ๐Ÿ˜‚

hows the charging situation...do you think ill have to fight for an outlet or get off the water early to get an outlet? are people cool with sharing if I was to bust out my 3 outlet extension? I really do gotta figure it out cuz I cant go too long without hooking the boat up to some power.

I hope the bites good too...definitely dont want to drive down there for some tough fishing. I can save some gas and just go to the butte for that bang

If they say there's an outlet, there should be one to use. Never heard of sharing outlets. You either have one or you don't. Most people won't get up at midnight and switch out cords to a battery that's already been charged. You tourney guys need your rest. My most important advice to you.....bring a sleeping bag and get inside it when laying on top of covers. Those bedspreads do not get washed regularly, and there's no telling how much stuff on top of them has been spewed or slung or whatever. Never, ever sleep on top of motel bedspread covers, ever! barf

You wonโ€™t have a problem with charging your boat, I donโ€™t recall seeing many fishermen there by choice, it more of a last resort type place.

You put too many charges on an outlet and they won't work

I survived about 10 years at the old Lakeview inn.. bring a sleeping bag and your own towels.
Fishing is picking up depending on what this arctic blast does you may hit it just right.
Was a pleasant surprise to see the results of Sun Country this last weekend.. Lots of limits and several 5 to 6 pound bass that dont show as big fish once the 8 and 9's were weighed. I bet you can get a good spot to charge since your going to be there so long.

Bring an extra fully charged cranking battery and a portable charger. Bring an extension cord and ask for a ground floor room. Run the extension cord out the door unless there is an outdoor receptacle. It's a pain to change out a battery but if you have to you have it.

You won't back your boat in next to your room. Outlets are near the Whataburger fence and Veterans blvd and the side street. Very crowded hotel and jammed every night. This time frame is Spring Break and every hotel will be crowded so will the lake if anything like 2020. I would change it to Del Rio Inn or Quality Inn both safe the later is better. if you want not so expensive hotel. It's at the last light in town and has decent boat parking.

Some of us used these when staying at the Executive Inn in Mt. Pleasant. To add even more fun and excitement, their electrical outlets didn't work until it got dark enough for their sign to come on. You didn't know if your batteries were going to charge until 9 p.m., and if the power did come on you didn't have a full night to get them charged before having to leave the next morning.

It was always an adventure, and not the enjoyable kind.

It sounds like charging your batteries will be the least of your worries! peep

Your boat and all the contents might not be there in the morning! slinger
