So how far will water temps drop over next 7-10 days looks like temps will be below freezing for about 5-6 straight days. Im guessing temps may fall 6-8 degrees. Could we see temps around 44-45 degrees at fork. This could be a major setback up to couple weeks.

I don’t know, but I’m gonna let the rest of y’all check it. I’m staying off the water until it warms up a bit.

With this extended arctic blast, I'd guess DFW area lakes will get down to 42-43 degrees.

Easily water temps in the low 40’s with air temps like these. The only positive is for those brave souls who want to hit a power plant plant lake you will have the highest chance all winter of the plant cranking out hot water .....and have the place nearly to yourselves! 🤔🤪 With temps like this in N. Texas they might have to fire up Monticello and Fairfield to get enough juice into the grid! de Winter was slow coming this year....but “it’s back”! [Linked Image]

Low 40s easily I think. It will be the coldest water temps we have seen in years. I've fished some upper 30s water on Northeast Texas lakes before, but it has been a while. Water in the low 40s and Florida strain bass is a really bad combo.

Will the drop in water temp do anything to the eggs that have already been laid by the early waive of spawning fish?

Hope this doesn't trigger a golden algae bloom on the Brazos lakes. Really cold water temps seem to stimulate the growth.

The other thing we will likely see, especially in the DFW north lakes, is some level of threadfin shad die off. You get 40 or below and its pretty much a guarantee.
