Another source might be the repair guy in the mezzanine cage at Johnny's Hardware in Harlingen. Last time I was there, he wasn't, but the cage was still there. My friend's been using him for years for Shimano reel service. IslandJim

I have a couple older Shimano reels that I was not able to get parts for even going directly through Shimano. I ended up watching eBay and picked up a couple old reels like it and use them a parts. Not the best option but it kept the old reel going.

I have had good luck at BPS's shop in Springfield, MO.
They have almost always been able to scrap up some old part to keep me going.

Shimano quits making replacement parts after a Reel model has been discontinued for over 5 years, so if it’s older than that, don’t count on the manufacturer or any of the reel parts stores or websites to have anything in stock. I’m not saying they won’t have anything for sure, but it is highly unlikely.
Older shimano parts are really hard to get a hold of, the best place to find parts or parts Reels is on eBay. Only problem with that is it’s very expensive most of the time. I had an older Stradic Spinning Reel and an older Curado baitcaster that needed parts. It ended up being a better deal to just buy new reels because by the time I added up the cost of the parts and shipping, it was almost as much as just buying a new Reel.
It’s a shame there are no aftermarket companies that make affordable reproduction parts for common and popular fishing reels so us guys with older worn out ones can make repairs and keep them going. You would think there would be a good market for parts like that.

eBay is a good place to buy older reels and part them out.

I’ve had good luck with Dad’s Ole Tackle too. If you don’t see what you are looking for on their website, call and ask. They’ve gotten me out of a bind several times.
