Been going out and trying to catch some with little luck. Any tips or tricks I should try?

Go to the river

It’s been a while but one thing to do is hit the rocks catching afternoon sun or the most direct sun this time of year. Like the jetty in the discharge cove, west side of the Miller Road railroad bridge etc. I always had really good luck on smoke Joe color traps, square bills, white chatterbaits, black blue jigs, and wacky rigged watermelon fry around the rocks. Look for changes in rocks like where chunk rock gets smaller or is piled different. Also up in discharge there are a couple ridges along the discharge canal by the fence that have rocks in them and they make small points that drop into deep water. If they still circulate water through the plant the fish will position on those drops and they did even when no current. But current used to be better. Also go to the old Dalrock marina spot. Marina and dock now gone but they piled tons of brush under the fish barge on that shore line and it’s adjacent to the little creek that goes back in there and there is another jetty in there close to both. When you catch a fish on the rock mark the spot on GPS and fish it hard to see if more are there. I had several specific spots on all those rocks I would catch most fish from versus always starting at one end and going to the other. Also hit main lake points (like the one just south of the power plant on the dam side drop) with stickbaits. Don’t be afraid to fish shallow. Hubbard fish always seem to be shallow. My best times were flipping and skipping marina docks with jigs. Bayside and Captains Cove have been pretty good. Get way up between the walkway and the boats. Pay real close attention to the fall. Pontoons and big bottomed boats can be good .
