I have been killing the big crappie lately. The problem comes when your hands get wet... Does anyone recommend a good hand warmer that is proven? I know there are some that are chemical reactive that you shake up or rub together but are there better ones out there that are reputable? Also, if it matters, I am fishing straight down in a slip.

Look into the seal skin gloves. They are so thin and you never really know you are wearing gloves. They are water resistant and they keep you warm. They are pricey but they do indeed work.

Put a pair of the hand warmers on the inside of your wrist held in by your coat or sweatshirt wristbands.

I use keep some of the medium duty nitrile gloves in my boat for throwing cast net on cold days. You could also use the heaviest ones but they do not stretch well so buy a size larger then normal. Put them in your pocket for a while before putting on your hands.

get some of the toe warmers...they are thin so you can peel the adhesive off and stick one on the palm inside of glove and the other on inside of glove over the back of your hand....works great...hands stay warm and dry and sealskinz are thin enough you can fish with them on.....

I’ve noticed the toe warmers have a warning not to put directly on skin and the hand warmers don’t. Not sure how big of a deal it is and haven’t called to ask. But just a heads up..

^^This really is the best. Custom pick the chick based on your hand size and size of fat folds...a constant 98° in there.

Don't forget the midol for cramping.

Take a 1lb coffee can with plastic lid, add 1 roll of TP less the cardboard and pour a bottle of wood alcohol into it, then cover with the lid.
When needed, pop the lid off and light the "heater". It will put out a low flame and plenny of heat to warm your hands. Once your hands are warm, just snap the lid on until needed again.

Plenty of you tube video's on this, again...use wood alcohol, not regular rubbing alcohol, works like a charm!
