Friday Greg and Steve came back to see me and brought Cooper AKA Charlie Brown with em! They've been with me before on Palestine and why the day started out slow they got in a rhythm and put 50 on board. They wanted to come to Pines and check it out. The plan was to catch a mess of fish then go ride around the lake and show them around. Well the bite was pretty strong and it was cold so we forgot about the boat ride and just beat down the slabs. They ended with 75 in 4.5 hours and had 5 in the 2 pound range.
Saturday Chris (Magged Out) and his brother came in from Abilene and I had on my book LOP but they decided they wanted to fish Fork. I tried to talk em into Pines or a smaller lake in the area but they wanted big fish and I agreed Fork was going to be your best shot at a 2.50 plus so we set out on a cold, windy, misting rain Lake Fork. First dish in the box was a 2.22 and they had 4 over 2 pounds but we didn't get much in the way of numbers (13) but we discussed that going into the day. Looking back I woulda done a few things different but I wanted to keep them in big fish areas all day and I feel like I did.
Sunday I had Travis coming back with me and he called and said he had to go out of town but was sending his dad John and his son and nephew to fish. They came from Houston and wanted to be on the road by 2 so we got on the water a little before 8 but the Pines fish were much pickier today. We finally figured out a pattern and started putting some fish in the box but it was nothing like Friday. That's why it's called fishing. They called it early with 34 in the box cause we were out of handwarmers! Hopefully Walmart still has some cause they went through my whole stash!
Most fish this weekend were caught in 14-28' of water on hand tied jigs 1/8oz in Chart/purple and shad colored. Jenko KR signature series and the Lakeside Sniper 13' had no problem putting slabs onboard. My weekdays the rest of Feb and first half of March are already booked but I still have some Sundays in March and Sunday Feb 21st for some reason. Several folks have asked about it but nobody has taken it yet. I will be coming from Bob Sandlin the day before so we could do that or go to Pines. Those would be my suggestions anyhow.
Take Care!
