Got out and pulled boards with Action Jaxon this morning. We got bait easy in 41 ft. We started fishing around the gizzard stack in 30 ft. Landed a couple of good ones early but it was slow. Headed up into 18 ft and caught a handful of eaters. Moved out to 22 ft and found the sandbass and that was the ticket. We had steady action and started seeing big fish as soon as we got around those bass. We missed a super Toad that hit an 11” drum and was pulling my big planer sideways like I hooked a jet ski. Felt like a 60+. I couldn’t turn him and it never came off the bottom. Lost him after 10 minutes and broke my heart. Missed another good one that would have gone 30. We grinded hard again today to put fish in the boat but we ended up having a pretty good day. Time to get a trip planned to a big cat fishery. Gotta hug some 50 lbrs before the season is over.

Solid work Chris! Solid work. I have had a better winter for big fish in part because I've been paying attention to you and your patterns. You gotta change patterns when the fish change and you know how to do that. Good numbers of good fish. Can't do better than that. Congratulations!

I planted my onions on Saturday. Sunday morning I woke up to snow on the ground. The best part about February, it's only got 28 days in it.

That kid has already held more big catfish than most anglers will see in a lifetime. Congratulations.

Thanks my Catfishin Amigos! Its been a ton of fun fishing with my son for his first winter of chasing big fish. I’ve caught a lot more big fish in years past but we’ve had about as consistent a year as I can ever remember. We’ve only had 1 trip in the last 4 months that we didn’t catch at least 1 good one and that is lucky as all get out. This warm winter has made the trophy fishing pretty tough for us but the warmer weather was actually a blessing since it allowed me to bring Jax every trip and give him a good taste of what it’s all about. We’re just now hitting our stride and our best days of fishing are ahead of us. I’m hoping that I can get get Jax trained up enough to fish hard 2 days in a row so we can start travel fishing the big cat lakes again next winter. Looks like it will be a little too cold this weekend to take my son so we will sit this one out. Good luck to all and thanks again my catfishin bros for joining us on our journey to Catville USA
