Done pretty good with soft plastics, senkos (whacky and tx rigged) flukes etc. At rocky points etc.

Last time I checked (months ago) you had to make some reservation and so on,, can you just go and use the ramp now after paying?

Thanks, Buchbass, the dam your talking about....Buchannan Dam? Aren't all the coves full of ROCKS....I hear stories about a few big stripers lurking near the dam as well. The predominant species Largemouth or Guadalupe, Most of my hill Country fishing is Canyon Lake....did not catch anything(LM) on Buchannan except on Striper Guide Trip. Looking forward to have 4 days on Inks...and not spending time on the phone with the office.

You can pay a fee at Rockaway RV Park and use their boat ramp if you can't get a reservation at Inks Lake State Park.

I caught a 30 pound striper below Buchanan Dam about 20 years ago on a large Bomber Long A , we were bass fishing and saw it knock a large shad out of the water. To be clear I was referring to the cove on the right just before the Ink's dam.

Just got back from Inks Lake, fished baby brush hogs, flukes, senkos (wacky rig) small crank baits. We caught a few on baby brush hogs watermelon red with 1/16oz weight in cove near the dam 1-2lbs. There is a green slime that seems to be everywhere so cleaning your bait was just about every cast. Best results for us was wacky rig green pumpkin senko....caught 8 (5 dinks- guads); lost a couple more including 3lb+ Most of the fish came from rocks 4-5ft depth next to deeper water. The lake was a pleasure to fish and facilities at the State Park were top knotch - ramp & restrooms. Not a bad first time trip. There were not many boats on the water....except for kayaks. Thanks for sharing tips about Inks- did see a guy in a skeeter catch 4.5lb in middle cove above the bridge, he handed us some green pumpkin senkos....Thanks to all TFF'ers
