Don't get me wrong-I love my new-to-me Skeeter ZX225 and I don't intend to start a Skeeter bashing thread. However, I am dreading having to change out the batteries. The rear compartment design is HORRIBLE. I don't see how I will be able to fit the batteries through either of the side panel openings and even then, I have a power pole pump and battery charger to contend with. My 2002 ZX was only other boat I've had and it was super easy access to rear compartment. 4 batteries to replace when it's time. Any tips out there on making the swap out less difficult?

They improved that issue on the new FXR and ZXR platforms.

Its a pain for sure in some of the older models. Might be easier with a helper.

Only thing I know ow would be to go lithium.
I just did 4 group 31 AGM and you need to tip and turn, no pumps or other obstacles.

There are hidden screws on each rear corner panel(floor), that, once removed, makes battery changing quite easy. My Skeeter is easier to access batteries than 95% of the cars on the road.

My 2004 ZX225 has two large doors that open all the way across the back deck. I believe they have finally gone back to this in the newest models. Now if they will go back to the two center doors on the front deck my boat has they will get it right.

Mine has 4 per corner. They are little torx head screws.

Yes. If you buy your batteries from Batteries Plus, they will take 'em out to your boat and install for free. At least the store on 1171 in Lewisville will...

I have a 2017. You can't fit a battery through that opening anyways. Doesn't make it much easier. If you have to change a battery furthest to the outside you have to remove others. Still a pain.

This! Only take about 1 minute per side to take panel off.

The two rear corner panels are easy to remove with a torx screwdriver. (4 screws per panel) The trouble I mentioned starts AFTER those are removed. My ZX is a 2017. There are tiny openings to work with once those quarter panels are removed. Okie-I'm liking the idea of having Batteries Plus do the work but I would worry they won't know how to reattach the mass of wiring I have back there.

Here's a picture of the opening I have to work with. Screwdriver for comparison. You can see one of the batteries back up under the rear deck.
