What’s your favorite combo you own? I personally like my NRX and shimano metanium mgl xg it’s super light and sensitive. For spinning it’s a NRX and twin power.

Favorite Overall- Scott Sector 908/4 with a Nautilus CCF-X2 8/10. Caster-friendly, fast-action fly rod that balances power and line speed for mid to long-ish shots with accuracy and delicacy in-close.

Favorite bass rod- Dobyns Champion 734 with Shimano Curado K. - action is very well suited for a WIDE variety of presentations. I could ditch 1/2 of my collection for identical 734s and would probably be happier.

I have 40 2020 Falcon Lowriders. At least one of each...several of the Lizard Draggers and several Heavy Cover Jigs. A few of the different Crankers. A Shaky head, two Mansfields, and a Drop Shot. So I guess I am obligated to say they are my favorite rods. Especially when cost is a factor.

Reels run the gamut from mostly Lews Team stuff, Shimano mid to lower mid level stuff (chronarchs and Curados), and a handful of older non-twinged Steez reels.

I have three setups ALWAYS on the deck.

A Falcon Lowrider Shaky head spinning rod (for Senkos) with a Shimano Stradic Ci4 250 sized reel.
A Falcon Lowrider Lizard Dragger BC with a Diawa Steez 6.3 reel for Shaky heads. Haha.
A Falcon Lowrider Flipping rod with a Lews Custom Lite SLP 7.5 for, well..Flipping

Mine is a Revo SX on a Falcon Buccoo "Trapcaster" 7' MH rod.. just a great all around rig. A close second is my Revo SX 4000 series spinning reel on my Skeet Reese Drop Shot Rod.. been a really good piece of kit for me..

PowerTackle LPC 470 with a Shimano Core 50 MG7 or PowerTackle 104 with a Shimano Curado K. Neither leave my deck.

I keep rods a long time. My favorite is a 7' medium power St Croix Avid. Its just an all around great rod for the money. Not nearly my most expensive but have had it in my hands paired with different Abu Garcia round reels, and then Shimano Calcuttas. Once fought a tarpon for over 3 hours that dragged me almost 6 miles one night on 15 lb test and 30 lb leader. Never landed the fish I thought would have gone over 150 lbs. That rod has more hours of being bent than all my other rods put together. Recently bought a Shimano 300 ej that I found in a tackle shop in Florida.. the only baitcaster in the place and was told by owner, it had been in display case for years since new. Had never seen one before as it is now discontinued and replaced with the Shimano Tranx. Anyway I like the reel, like the rod, and though I normally carry 4 or 5 different combos on my kayak, I had it in my hands for the 11 lb 6 oz and 9 lb 12 oz bass I've caught in the last two months. May have to get another Avid as I've had this one 20 years and have had it rewrapped once and it needs it again.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.
