My old gal DOESN'T need a rebuild after all. So, I'm going to treat her to new electronics on the console. This is where y'all come in. I had a humminbird 698ci SI, but I was never really happy with it and it crapped out a month or so ago. I like SI/DI/sonar combo and I'm not really interested in the livescope etc and from what I understand that goes on the bow anyway and is FAR above what I want to spend. I have a Lowrance up there that I'm pretty happy with anyway.
So, if your budget was $500-700 what unit would you get? (would go to 900-1000, but would have to be some kind of special unit!) Fishing mainly for bass, usually banging the shoreline, but sometimes out 20' or so. Almost never fish deeper than 30'. Always fresh water.
FYI if you're in the Austin area I will again plug Kenny at Klien marine in Georgetown. Always fast, fair and honest. 512-930-4878
I didn't lose him at the boat. I shook him off cause I didn't want my hands to get "fishy"

Think ahead of your trolling motor. The ability to link the trolling motor you have/or want to get latter to the sonar may play a role in what brand you go with.

Thanks for the link I'll check it out. Think ahead of your trolling motor. The ability to link the trolling motor you have/or want to get latter to the sonar may play a role in what brand you go with.
I get that for most that's a big consideration, but in this case not really. My boat is a '93 that I'm just recreational fishing from, albeit at least once a week. I don't do tournaments anymore either and I am certain I'll never lay out the kinda cash that would fetch the kind of trolling motor that links with the fish finder. When I get to that point it'll be a new boat altogether. I appreciate the input y'all.
