I've got a Garmin 93sv at the console and nothing on the bow. We really want something with side imaging for the front.

Which direction would you go?

I posted this in the electronics section, but I think it'll be seen better here

First question, why do you want SI on the front.

But to answer your question I'd find a used Humminbird Helix unit largest you can find. You can buy a brand new 7" for $700.

That's a good question. We are still new to the whole bass fishing game. My son is fishing for his HS team as a freshman.

Why would we NOT want/need SI?

si on console drive around find stuff then go up front and fish it, if you want to see stuff as you move spot to spot if your staying on the bow network your units and use the si rear ducer.

I have 3 of the 9" garmin, 93sv plus on bow and console and a 92sv plus (just doesn't come with a ducer) for livescope.

go with the garmin and you can network them, add livescope later if you want to. love my set up.

Very strong argument to get another Garmin so you can link and share waypoints without having to save to microSD and use computer software to translate languages then re-save and upload. Will save you a ton of time.

don't get any unit with the gt52 transducer. the gt54 is the upgraded to that and the gt56 is the current - top line. that's why some of them are priced really low - that and they're out of stock so you can't get them anyway.

Well you can do like has been said and get Garmin and network them. As a standalone unit, SI really works best at about 3-4 mph. So idling speeds. Livescope, down imaging and 360 are predominantly designed/used on the TM.

Elite 7ti2 or the 9ti2 is also worth considering and can be found in that $700 range at the places that may still have some in stock.
