We have had a great fall and winter season on Texoma and January was no exception. With the weather that we were expecting this last weekend I decided to change locations to another part of the lake where we would be a little more protection from the brutal winds that were forecasted. It proved to be the right move to make as we stayed safe and were able to run our scheduled trips despite the weather. The bite was also spectacular as you can see from the attached pictures. Still a mix of bait and dead stick but they wanted it moving a bit faster than they have been. The best speed has been between .5 to .6. This week it seamed that wanted it moving .7 to .9. Chartruse was still the prefered color on the dead stick. Most of the fish were caught in 30 to 35 fow but the bites coming at around 25 feet. Box fish were still a little difficult to find but we would have a few each drift that would make it under the line but we're still 18 to 19 inches. Lots of 22 to 26 inch fish went back to fight again another day. If you have ever wanted to experience this winter striper fishing on Texoma give Southern Wind Guid Service a call and we will get you on them. 580-320-8476
