Is it possible for a qualified Mercury mechanic to convert a 150 Pro XS into a 175 hp? Anyone know if possible to do and what it might cost? I figured it would be cheapest way to create more HP instead of buying new motor.

Used to be a few companies that would flash the ECM but Mercury put a stop to that.

Thanks for the replies, I'm torn between several options....1--Turn the 150 hp into a 175 hp, 2--Replace 150 Pro XS motor with a 4 stroke 175 hp, 3--Sell boat/motor and buy something else, 4--Do nothing(most likely). I purchased this rig new in 2013 and really like it. I just wish it had a larger motor for better performance. I'll talk to a couple of outboard mechanics in my area and get their opinion, but I'll probably leave it alone. It has low hours, runs perfect, and cranks on first turn of key.
