I've got plenty of fishing gear, but you know how we are!

We are always willing to try new lures!

I have not bought anything in a few years, and I usually get my tackle at Sports Academy.

However, I have a gift card for Cabela"s/Bass Pro.

My Question:

Which store, Bass Pro or Cabela's has the best/biggest selection of fishing gear, or are they basically the same?

I can usually get most of my basic tackle needs from either Walmart or Academy. They are both close by to where I live. I love Bass Pro the times I make the drive to them. Cabela's is just to far from where I live. Bass Pro owns Cabela's. To answer your question i like the Bass Pro Shop in San Antonio better than the Cabela's in Buda TX.

But Cabela's still offers the 5% military discount for on-line orders while Bass Pro Shop does not offer the discount for on-line orders.

If you're a catfisherman, Catfish Connection has items you may not find at Bass Pro. They also have a good crappie section in the back of the catalogue.

I used to say academy, but they seem to have cut a lot out

I got most of my gear at Sports Academy, and I still do, but I had a gift card from Bass Pro Shops, so that's where I went.

Actually, there was/is so much tackle, my eyes got tired from looking over each and every aisle, but I found what I needed.

I did some asking in the "bank fishing" section about "cold water fishing."

For those of you who rarely venture up to the fishing sections, jump in, especially if you bank fish.
