Need two TVs...last ones melted (and Dish is none too happy about their equipment).

As I do research, I see ads about 8K televisions. Is there even such a thing? Is there a source for 8K?

Isn’t this just a signal that is enhanced thru the magic of AI? Is this more gimmick than something I need.

I want a great picture...refresh rate pretty high to watch hoop...and something that isn’t trash after a year or two. Thoughts?

I am not an expert, but everything I have read says the average viewer buying an 8K set is probably a year or two ahead of the curve. Prices are really high and programming is limited. It is going to be unbelievable, but I might wait a while.

Our TV will do 4K. We watched one movie in 4k that came on some kind of USB harddrive. It was letter box, so the top and bottom of the screen had a blank area. Didn't like it. I can imagine 8K is like watching a film strip on a ribbon. If you get a magnifying glass you can see the wonderful resolution.

Made a mistake. In 2016 we paid big $$ for the curved screen Samsung state of the art UHD 4K TV in the 65" size. Now 3.5 years later, the upper LH corner has some dark area about the size of a playing card. On some colors you don't notice it, but white screen it is obvious. So all that $$ and we have a blacked out area.

You get it at costco by chance? They will take back darn near anything, after any length of time.

No, Best buy. Our last Samsung DLP lasted over 10 years and was still working. We just wanted to get one of them fandango Smart TVs. For what I paid for it, today I could get 2 65" UHD QLED TVs. Pathetic bad mistake. Best thing is to just buy middle of the road stuff, you get the same quality TV picture.

Exactly. Just how big of a nose hair do you need to see on a TV screen.

I just saw 72" at Walmart for $500 and some.

Didn't look at the name or quality.

Bigger is better.

Maybe.

I kind of hate to admit it but we still have a Sony Bravia 46" lcd from 2005. I'd like to get a new led but this one works great.

I’d bet we have the exact same TV form the same year and I have the exact same issue, bought it for our ranch house.

there are only two channels on directv that are in 4k, so no need to spend extra for 8k yet.

It is a UN65JS9500FX model. I paid $4000.00 for it. The sales receipt says 1/31/2016 date of purchase. It is the curved screen model. Looks real nice as long as you don't turn it on and look up at the LH corner. I don't think there is a fix for it. Something to do with the driver for these pixels or connectivity of the ribbon to LED panel. I dunno, but it doth sucketh bigtime.
