Just gave up chasing largemouths (even traded out boats), and learning to crappie fish. Acquired an 8 ft crappie pole and #10 series spinning reel. Now what’s my line to use? Size, any color, do you use a clear leader, etc. any advice would be greatly appreciated and I hope to meet some of you on the water in the future.

It doesn’t matter if you are just starting out so don’t over think too much and this point. You will end up trying it all anyway and figuring out what you like. I have switched over to braid myself unless I’m dock shooting which is rare for me.

As a starting point go to Academy and buy a spool of yellow hi-vis 20lb braid. It won’t break off near as much when you get hung up in trees and brush and it’s easier to watch your line. Then, get after it. cheers

Power Pro Super8Slick. 20lb test Braid .in yellow fluorescent 14" 12lb clear mono leader and swivel .feel every bite! been using it 4 years. the good thing is you can use it all year then reverse it on your reel and use it another year! the slick 8 holds its color much longer than other Braids.
