I've been waiting a month and a half for VA Dallas to call to SCHEDULE an appointment for my shoulder.
They finally call today.
VA lazy @ss: Mr. Moto(that's what they call me) can you come in tomorrow for a shoulder appointment?
Moto: No ma'am, I'm on a project in South Texas
VA lazy @ss: Oh, ok.
Moto: Can you schedule it for a different day?
VA lazy @ss: No sir, I'm only scheduling for tomorrow. I'll have her call you. CLICK
Mofo had me running hot then, so I call back to the same number.....three times....no answer, no message, no sh..!
The VA is bulls.... and I can't put into words how much they piss me off.
I would boat ramp every SOB there if I could.

Wow. I am really sorry. My mom deals with my uncle's appointments and they were really bad at first, but over the last couple of years, they had been super easy to deal with. I'm sorry, because they should do a better job.
In fact, my uncle almost died around 2013 because he had a blocked liver duct and it took them 3 months to get him in...longest he's had to wait since Covid was 3 weeks for an appointment.

I thought you could go to any hospital/clinic/doctor and the VA was responsible. A Trump thing.

They all say your important to us. They should say please hold, your money is important to us. I called 911 a week or so ago and got put on hold. The recording kept saying not to hang up and your call is important to us. When they got on the phone I told them I was in Kennedale and they said they would have to transfer me. My wife told me that Mansfield handles 911 calls for Kennedale. I'm glad it wasn't a heart attack or anything. Just someone shooting a gun off.

Call your family doctor and try getting in ! Good luck !!!! They are all back logged. COVID !!! VA is also. VA doc has called to check on me twice in the last 8 months. She renewed my meds. for me both times.
I would agree with you , but then we would both be WRONG !!!!!

Moto that sux big time. If you’re going to be close to Kerrville at any point you might try calling that particular hospital/clinic to schedule an appointment.

moto, call them with the day you can go in (give em a spread of 4-5) and if they can't get you an appt. then call this one. 214 857 4949, this is the community care specialist, they can get you an appt. with private dr. or authorize your choice of dr.
I think being out on a job and taking more than the 30 min. drive time you should be able to get it done.
have a dr. picked out prior to calling and let them know it has to be done asap, you're in pain etc.

and like kennerdude says, kerrville or san antonio both have good va hospitals (or used to way back when), san antonio had an emergency room as well so you might go that route.
I haven't been to either since about 1981 so it is probably a little different now.

The sad part is the VA Bureaucracy is horrible. The bureaucrats you have to deal with to see a provider are horrible. Every provider I've dealt with has been great.
