The big fish continued to cooperate earlier this week as RD took out a few groups who took advantage of our winter special. Fish were found over main lake creek channels around large schools of bait. I’ve been busy guiding deer and duck hunts all week, but here’s how the fish are coming in the boat:
Rods: 6’6” ACC Crappie Sticks
Reels: Shimano Sierra and Pflueger President
Line: 8lb high visibility mono
Lure of Choice: White Hot and Shaddaboy Thump Chubbies tandem rigged 24” apart
The best bite has been seen in 40-50ft of water with fish being suspended in 15-25ft. As the sandies pass through, folks are often catching two at a time while deadsticking the above mentioned tandem rig. When hybrids are near, RD is using Livescope to specifically target the bigger fish.
If the wind isn’t too crazy, our customers are using double 1/8 ounce unpainted jig heads. If it gets a little choppy, we’re switching the bottom jig head to 1/4 ounce for a little more control.
Our winter special lasts until the end of February. $100 per person gets you 4-5 hours of fishing, all bait and tackle, bottled water and we filet the fish after some great pictures are taken. We ask for a minimum of three anglers (or $300) and a maximum of six anglers. We run 24ft BlueWave PureBay 2400 boats with all the latest electronics. Here are pics of the last few days:
