Headed down Sunday for the first time. Just wondering how hard it is to run the lake. I know it hasn’t been fishing very good but hopefully this warm week will get it going. Also do you really need to fish the Mexico side. My plan is to fish the Texas side the first day and see how it goes. Any tips would be appreciated. Even if it’s not very good right now it will be better then the 43 degree water I have been fishing

Run the west side of the of the bridge coming out of the Veleno, it’s about a foot out of the water can’t miss it and I believe I’d stay in the Texas side, especially on the south end of the lake.

Up till then I've always put in at the state park which by the way if you launch down there now it has to be done off the bank as the water lever is too low to use the ramp. If you do make sure you have 4WD.

I went down about 3 weeks ago and it was my first trip to Falcon. We experienced 87 degree highs and 35 degree low temps. Water temp dropped 12 degrees in a day with a cold front.
With all that said, stay on the Texas side and you can run the main river channel all the way to the dam without issue from the county ramp. Be careful coming out of county ramp before the main river, that’s where that bridge is.
Best pattern for us was a 1.5 squarebill. Chartreuse and blue or black outperformed anything else. Later in the afternoon, those fish were in the dirt. Best areas for us were the two coves just North of lil’ Tiger, I think one is called Pierce. Start on that north bank out at the mouth, put your trolling motor on 50% and go. By far and away our most productive area. Better fish coming from deeper water, but it was Slow at best. With this full moon, there should be fish up shallow all over the lake.

Fishing success has picked up a good bit with the warming water.. Numbers are up and a few bigguns being caught. Water temp up into the sixties on the sunny days.. Should continue to improve. Will post report on my site tomorrow..
