Don’t you think Fox Sports would have sought out MLF if they felt they were best in class and right for their advertising business? BASS is the Big Stage, Big Fish platform. MLF is the No Stage, No Fans platform. Where is the disconnect?

No Fox Sports wouldn’t seek either of them out. Fishing is a filler for major sports networks. Do you think golf, basketball, college sports have to buy their airtime? Nope they don’t. But I can assure you BASS pays for it and so would MLF if one of the owners did not own the station. I can also assure you MLF paid for their airtime on Discovery. One thing I do know O is I’ve been involved in the inner workings of the industry far longer than most and all outdoor hunting and fishing shows BUY their airtime and then sell advertising to recoup their investment and make a profit. It doesn’t matter if there is a stage or not.

The only thing I can fins is that it is for 4 years and 6 figures per year. confused 3

Unless one is an insider at Bassmasters or Fox Sports then they have no clue what the deal is really worth. sarcastic

Like Mark said it is BASS that is getting paid. cheers

I enjoy some of them while driving or doing busy work. BTL is the best imho. It’s more like sports talk than an infomercial.

Wait, don’t you rail against the owners of MLF being connected to the networks MLF is on and why that’s the reason it’s able to get 800 hours of coverage? Now you’re saying Fox didn’t reach out to MLF because it doesn’t have a stage, platform, etc.?
Also, MLF had its TV contract already, so kind of hard to sign MLF when they’re already under contract with a rival network.
Also, proof Fox Sports sought out BASS and not the other way around. Or, proof it wasn’t Fox seeking out BASS to compete with CBS, which had already signed MLF?

Are you seriously comparing live coverage on Fox Sports and FS1 to the sub par back channels KSE owns and controls, or a paid programming contract with CBS where MLF pays them to show some replay of a six month ago or older tournament?

The proof you seek is out there for the curious minds that want to know the truth. And fact is, it’s not that hard to find, if you really wanted to know.

Wonder how much the TFF network would pay. If we put several of the key players in these debacles in a small room with no furniture..

As a courtesy, it would be nice if you backed up things like this with proof of some sort.

Duck - let me help you out and point you in the right direction. Go to post #1 in this thread and click the link to the video. Listen for the key words in the title of this thread, “best in class” to be mentioned. If you listen closely to the discussion you will hear answer to your question of who sought who out. Both these organizations work with 3rd party matchmaking agencies - kinda like a dating services for media partnerships. As for the financial arrangement, it’s been widely reported in sporting news, not just fishing. Its being reported as a seven figures multi-year contract, with it paying BASS six figures annually over the life of the contract. I imagine there is probably some sort of revenue sharing, etc... and I would also presume there are options to extend, etc.., but haven’t read anything about them. Do you need a link to Google and the search terms to use?

Thanks.

“BASS was working with an agency, and Doug Perlman, who runs his own shop, approached us...”

BASS pursued Fox. Fox didn’t go looking for this.

Sinclair reported a 4 billion loss last quarter. May not be a fox sports much longer. They lost hulu and you tube tv and many of the providers also.

Just laughable how you can come to that conclusion. But if that floats your MLF buoyed boat, then whatever. Do you even know who Doug Perlman is and what he does? My bet is Fox paid Doug Perlman a hefty finders fee for getting the two entities together. BASS works though it’s own agency, Perlman is a big shot socialite matchmaker who smoozes with all the big shots in the sports world media... Fox wouldn’t be paying BASS what they are if they weren’t “looking for this”! lmfao
