Take that “trip to the ER” as the sign it was intended to be...don’t ignore it. Get your hernia taken care of dude!

Sounds as though you will be limited as to how much hands on you can be with the pain if you put it off.
Go see recommended surgeon and make an informed decision. Wishing best of recovery.

Suck it up Nancy, you'll be fine. rolleyes

Get the thing fixed or it will just get worse and like TexDawg said, you don't want tissue dying. Ice and applying pressure will help some in the meantime.

if you were referred to a surgeon don't try to second guess your dr.

have the consult, be specific about work and when light duty would be recommended, tell boss when you will be back from surgery and ready for light duty work then schedule the surgery.

how I would handle it anyways.

after my prostate nearly killing me due to putting things off, put off for only 2 days, I don't mess with stuff like that, get it fixed asap is now my motto. grin

I had one recently , it was the belly button type . had about a golf ball size "pop" out when I was doing some work on a yard project .
I carefully pushed the " ball " back in the hole , but as soon as I moved , it popped back out.
Your concern is strangulation , not surgery . In my case , I didn't need a " mesh " inserted , just surgery and recovery was easy . JUst wasn't allowed to
do anything physically demanding for 30 days .

About 3 weeks later went ER with my neck swollen up and couldnt swallow, It had rip and bile was getting inside my body, I spent two weeks in ICU to try and get the infection out, I ended up a month in the hospital and two weeks recovering, Get it Done partner!!!!!!!

Get it repaired! You won't find a head stone in any cemetery that says "Wish I had worked more!". eeks

I had an abdominal hernia repaired and was allowed back at work after a week with restrictions -- no lifting more that 10lbs, no extended sitting, and don't work over 8 hours. It took a few weeks until I was back to normal. If you don't look out for you, nobody else is going too!
