 Replace powerhead or rebuild ? Help!

Hey guys I have a 98 charger with 98 mercury 200 efi. I believe I blew piston number 4 . Looking for advice on wether to rebuild or buy a powerhead. Iām in the dfw are and looking for a good shop to get the job done. Also has anyone bought powerheads from blackbird motors on eBay? Any issues dealing with them? Another question I have is can I go with a 225 power head to replace to 200? Thanks in advance ! Tightlines!

How much of the work can you do yourself? Paticularly, disassembly and reassembly. When you say 'blew piston #4', what do you mean? Compression is low on that cylinder only? The plug is covered with alumimum? Did you pull the head from that side and look at the piston and cylinder wall?
Those EFI motors are generally good motors, so if it is rebuildable, that is the route I would take.

Give Ronnie at Xtreme Marine a call..817-366-3403.. He did a rebuild for me on the same motor over 5 years ago and still running strong.. Knows what he's doing and has power heads if you need ....West Bay Marina on Eagle Mtn..
