PVC—I used 1.5” schedule 40. Quantity of ten in five foot length. 2” outside deck screws (100) Fender washers (100) Rubber garden hose 50ft light duty Dock fender floats D rings/anchors/cleats Rope I’ll add some more garden hose cross supports (ran out of screws and washers—used 100 so far) Portable, removable, weighs about 30lbs ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2021/01/full-30144-81941-b1663549_3cfa_4aad_95bc_e0da5e93f8b5.jpeg)

Works better than imagined Designed so back third sinks so you could just drive up onto the ramp. I’ll actually add a little more floatation all the way to the very back 1/4 just to have the perfect amount of front and middle bouyancy. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2021/01/full-30144-82470-deceda48_600a_49c1_b81f_9cdf51caf892.jpeg)

I priced out something commercially available, and cheap ones start at $999. I knew I could make something serviceable for under $150 easy. That’s $850 more dollars available for beers and fishing gear.

Need pics with a yak on it. Is there enough slack in the garden hose to allow the pvc to wrap up on the sides and create a type of cradle? I'd think it would have to or it would be very unstable.

Yes, it cradles in the middle. Most of the floatation is on the outside edges, so the middle sinks relative to the outside when there is weight on it I did add a little more floatation toward the rear, so it’s more dock/ less ramp now. Less severe incline.
Would I walk on it, no
Supports a stationary kayak just fine with three corners tethered to the main dock.

me so confused....yaks float, if you need it out of the water hang it from a rafter. Some lakes get algae blooms and have high salinity. Yes, yaks float; but, this is primarily to keep the hull cleaner (don’t think zebra muscles could cling to HDPE, but maybe a transducer below the water line) Much easier to launch off the floating dock than a rafter.
