Veterans' Day is a a paid holiday for both federal and state employees in Texas.

Neither is a paid holiday here so I'm not sure what you'd get paid with if you didn't show up and work. Then again, these are the basic accounting principles that seem to escape our elected officials.

Veterans' Day is a a paid holiday for both federal and state employees in Texas. What are we teaching school kids,they participate in parade's today,but then Veterans Day kids are in school "while" Veterans Day parades are going on...If it wasn't for our Great Veterans, there's no way this day would exist.

I have the luxury of taking off any day that I don't want to get paid. I don't take off many days.

Today is Robert E Lee's birthday and is a state holiday Virginia used to celebrate Lee-Jackson-King day. They split it into two different holidays for obvious reasons.

Veterans' Day is a a paid holiday for both federal and state employees in Texas. Not for me it wasn't. TDCJ only gives Comp Time......no money.

The elementary school my grandson and granddaughter go to in Arlington has a special Veteran's Day program every year (except 2020 for obvious reasons). Really nice the way they treat all the vets who are relatives. All the classes march in carrying the flag of each service. A special speaker, who is a vet relative of one of the kids, talks about some aspect of military life. And finally, a free breakfast for the vets and their students. Great morning in November each year. I've been to 6 with my granddaughter , and will get to go to 6 with my grandson now. GO ARMY!

Not a paid holiday for me, I can take it as PTO if I so choose like anyone else can. I choose not too I'm not familiar with PTO lol. I get 35 days, it’s not easy to take them all   My wife gets 5 weeks vacation and holidays off as well. I get 2 weeks vacation and 4 holidays off with Easter being one of them and we only get Sunday off for it.
