Heading to Key West. Any recommendations on things to see or places to eat. From everything I have read, they say not to rent a car, walk or rent a scooter.

Not sure how long you will be there, hopefully you can enjoy the night life. I was there in the morning for one day and it was dead. Chickens, cats and bums all over

one of my favorite places to visit , never been there in winter. Shipwreck museum , Hemmingway house are a couple of things to do.
Sloppy Joes or Irish Kevins ( no children recommended at either of these locations )
Blue Heaven and A&B lobster house are our favorites places to eat.

Mallory Square at sunset , more for people watching ( I get better sunsets at the lake )

Depends on where you stay about the car. There are places to stay on the east and north side of the Island where a car would be handy,
If you are staying on Duval or near the marinas , you can get by without one . Depends on how long you are staying,
A car is nice if you want to explore the lower and middle keys.

I would recommend you get a car. Drive down to Bahia Honda State Park if you have time and some of the 24 hour eating places are not near Duvaul Street.

Scooters are fun in Key West and especially helpful when it comes to parking. There are lots of great places to eat - seafood and Cuban food will not disappoint. Hemmingway's house is interesting to see and there are a few museums that are worth checking out. I would also do an hour or two in the evening at Mallory Square for the sunset and entertainment.

The island is a fun place to explore. Just get out and ride around.

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

Blue Heaven for breakfast every day love that place, sabon for Cuban food, drinking at hogsbreath and sloppy Joe's, its not for everyone. The seafood place at the wharf is ok. Go to Hemingway house to say you did and see cats with a bunch of toes. Advil and pedialyte for hangovers.

Not sure if available but we have went to the Keys for the last 4 years and used our electric bikes as transport....It is something I dream about on days like today. E-Bike rentals are popping up everywhere so u may check that out.

There is a really nice scuba school out on the tip of Fleming key that has the reputation of being the most enjoyable scuba course in the world. Stop by and ask those boys to show you how to do flutter kicks. You can thank me later.

Go to the little white house at the end of Duval with the menu posted out front. You'll know it when you see it. wink
