Any reports on the white bass run on the Frio River of Choke Canyon? Any females moving in now?

Yeah some catching them, River is a cluster f due to being so low. Donāt waste your time going on a weekend, you might be ok during the week. Lots of stumps, so know that before you go.

+1 on what grout-scout said! And now you have to deal with the duck hunters. In all the years I've fished there i have never seen so many and they don't care about wakes or other boaters. I was jigging the stumps in the above pic with my family and had lots of them fly by us at wot with no regard for the huge wake they were making in that little river. One more thing good luck parking. The duck hunters get there around 3 a.m.. and leave between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. avoid the ramp around those times because it is a cluster F

I have been reading many complaints about the duck hunters this year.

Duck season ends 31 January -- that will remove that group from the river. Once the white bass run has started, it will be crazy! The parking lot will be full by 7 AM, even during the week. There will be 20ft+ bay boats running up and down the river or anchoring in the river channel blocking the river forcing other boats to drive through a bunch of stumps to get around the knuckle heads. I'll be fishing the main lake to get away from all the craziness!

Went this past weekend. The place was a mad house but hardly any whites being caught. That lake really needs some rain.

I've fished the river for years, not so much anymore, but there are more people, more boats, and more knuckle heads, and less water......Not a good combination!
Just one more cast!

Took my little boy and wife a week or so ago. First spot we tried was bust. Made a move, my little boy lost one right at the boat and them mommy over reached and went swimming. Temps in the 50's made it a day ender Hopefully the run will come on strong and we will be able to get back down. A 2 month old Iphone is now being used by a gator or catfish down there somewhere.

Thank goodness Jan 31 is over! Nothing against duck hunters and I know us anglers often screw them too, but it was a circus last weekend. I think the largemouth ate all of the white bass or I hope so anyways.

Yep -- ran into to some duck hunters at the ramp at Calliham Friday afternoon. They were ready to go white bass fishing after duck season ended. The river will be crowded with a lot of craziness going on!
