After lots of issues with interference on my fish finders (low-fi Hook4/transducer mounted under the troller motor and Humminbird 698ci SI transom mounted) I'm considering adding a 4th battery dedicated to electronics to remedy the issue.

Anyone gone this route? pros/cons?

I'm a weekend warrior not fishing tournaments anymore and no plans to begin tournament fishing again so I really can't justify the money for live scope and all the other stuff y'all talk about, but I do want electronics to work properly.

If you are getting interference on both units it sounds more like a wiring issue vs a battery issue. When I had my electronics upgraded, the installers put in dedicated wiring straight back to the engine battery. They also used really heavy gauge wiring like #6. I have my Livescope system, console graph unit, two power poles, hydraulic jack plate, and bilge pump, lights etc. all hooked up to my engine starting battery. I get no interference. So you might want to try hooking your graphs up to a dedicated wiring system if it is not.

I know the console is a dedicated line to the starter battery and like you my jack plate, bilge, starter etc are all on the engine battery as well. All of them pass through a power cut-off, though. I will check the lines from the bow. They may be tied in with the power to the troller so checking that is a good idea.

We originally ran my console graph to the power block under my console then jumped it off a hot leg that ran back to the cranking battery. I was having an issue when starting up, it would pop up low voltage and would really never recover from it. Multiple times it would cut off and then come back on. Ended up placing a third battery under my console and ran my Solix 10 straight to it and added and 3 bank charger and all has been fine since then. Runs all day, not a hiccup.

Hey we have the same charger! My console was doing the same thing, showing low voltage. In fact last trip out starting battery died after about 2 hours on the water. Odd, because it was fully charged when I left. I had it checked when I got back and got told it's perfectly healthy. Who knows? Boats are so finicky! The only issue with adding a dedicated battery is I have to either buy a four bank charger or use my Noco for one of the batteries, not that that would be a big deal, but it's being used for other charging stuff.


PS that has got to be the cleanest set up I've ever seen

I ran 10 ga dedicated wires to both of my Helix 10's from the battery with a fuse in the line.

Even running the traditionally under powered Optima batteries I never have a problem with mine cutting off at any time.

Dedicated lines, but not dedicated batteries is what I'm getting from your post. Is that correct?
