I have always liked to fish deeper during the winter months. Just my two cents.

I was marking fish and bait from 28 to 35 on Cedar Creek this morning. Looked at a couple spots shallow, but did not find fish or bait. Only fished 4 hours, didn't look long. Was slow but caught 1 dink, 1 good eater and one 31.55 lbs pig. Released.
Water was 48 to 49 degrees, 8 to noon.
Good luck Ken

I fished Saturday and Sunday in deep and mid depth and shallow. Marked all kinds of fish but couldn't get them to bite. We had fresh gizzards, and I even brought some jello chicken and bacon to experiment with. Caught a couple dinks but that was it. I really wasn't expecting much after the wind on Friday. Water temps were in the low 40s. Saturday the wind blew out of every direction and then not at all. That's why they call it fishin and not catchin...
We'll get 'em next time...

My buddy destroyed em on Lavon Saturday Tim. They pulled boards in 40ft and got a 45, 35, 32, 28, 27, 25, 23, 22, 20, with a handful of teeners. Everything was piled up thick in 45 ft on Lewisville too. My buddy Kyle fished Raybob and caught a handful of 20 out in 46ft.

We'll get 'em next time... My boat is in the shop, so i had to bank it, on Saturday. Same as you, threw them a little of everything, in varying depths of 14 to 23 foot (all I could hit from the bank) One nibble all morning from 6:30 till Noon. Gave up and went home. A few regulars and a couple guides fishing the relative same areas, didn't look like they were getting much action either. So, I didn't feel too bad about it.

El Gato, that's makes me wonder if I was marking Gar. I have had that problem before. I see what I think is cats stacked up on the bottom and couldn't get them to bite. Saturday I got skunked and Sunday we saw about the same thing on Sonar and we only managed a couple dinks. I was on the west side fishing out of Collin Park. I'm betting they were on the east side... Honestly, I haven't spent much time over there. I say they must have been east because I don't think there is much 40' water west. You've given me a lot to think about! It's only Monday and it's gonna be a rainy week. I already can't wait to get back out there!

Took me a while to tell the difference Tim. They look very similar on side image. Gar will give a harder return on side image and tend to all be lined up in the same direction. Catfish will give a softer return and will have a larger wider head on side image. Catfish donโt all line up exactly the same either. They look like packs of wild pigs in that the are all moving in the same general direction but all slightly oriented in different positions. Iโve been fishing a group of blues that are hanging with gar. Youโll see 8 or 10 gar together and several big blues tagging along. When Iโm fishing around gar they tent to surface around the boat. I will get some better info on those locations out deep for ya...

Anchoring on em is a pain but they donโt tend to mess with my big baits when drifting. I catch tons of good cats around gar when I fish on the north end of my lake.

Good info brother. Thanks a million. I guess I've always thought of them as exclusive but it makes more sense when I step back and think about it that they would be all mixed together.
