Watched this last night on Netflix with my wife and kids. Was very eye-opening on how these social media companies want your time and attention and how they make money off of you. I gave up on social media awhile back but after watching this I am further convinced that this is bad for society. Anyone else watched it yet?

Its pretty eye opening, I joined FB back in 2005 when it was just college students, it was fun, but over the years its changed so much, I'm on it less and less now and don't update anything, I gave them the info once, if they change servers and want it again, nah.

I don't consider this social media in the sense of FB and others as you're still able to be anonymous, and as far as I know, JP isn't selling our info either.

Just confirms what most people already knew or suspected. Its not going anywhere but I made my kids watch it in order to become educated consumers.

Social Media is the root cause of where the country is today.

I have Instagram to keep up with some friends but thats it.

No FB, no Tweeter, No dating sites for dudes with small dongs... I dont do any of it.

In very small doses, it’s OK, especially to keep up with far away family/friends.
You’re right Nocona, it was fun in the early oughts when it was truly social
Started to get much less fun when the advertising became more intrusive and when it turned much more political about ten years ago, that was it for me.

I did make a couple brief FB posts this week, first ones in years.

There's another good one on Amazon called "The Creepy Line" It focuses on how Google can shift public opinion, censor critics and influence elections. I was surprised to learn that Google now spends more on lobbying efforts than any other industry.

Hadn't heard of that one, I'll add that to the list thumb

Never had a social media account. Never even been on one of the sites. No facebook, twitter, snapchat, instagram etc... Saw through their BS right off the bat.
