In Amarillo...took the wife Saturday night. Blue Point oysters with Pickle Beer. Worth the stop if you’re in Amarillo.

Man they look great!!! I LOVED Oysters and clams all my life, a little tabasco, a touch of horseradish. then about 5 years ago I guess I got a bad one, I was sick for days, throwing up, diarrhea, fever, then blood started coming out. Finally I went to the ER, they said I had shigella. Took a heavy dose of antibiotics to kill it. Since then I look at them longingly but can seem to pull the trigger. I still stand by the old don't eat raw seafood in Months without an R. Also Avoid Joes Crab shack in San Antonio near Ft Sam Houston!!

I have an aversion to raw seafood from a place that's over 500 miles from the ocean.

I fully understand that they have airplanes that can deliver faster than a truck can make it from Galveston to Houston, but still that's just a quasi-phobia of mine.

That said, I'd murder that plate of oysters anywhere outside of the panhandle.

I get them every week or so; either The Drunken Oyster or Scott's Oyster Bar in Amarillo...I'm still above the dirt.

Is this anywhere near the Drunken Clam? (gratuitous Family Guy reference)
