If you were buying a $300 reel which one would you purchase? I do a lot of jig fishing/dock skipping.

Go up in your budget a little bit and get a Bantam MGL or find one used. If not a bantam then I would drop to the Curado K and you could get 2 used or one new and have some cash to spare.

I'd buy Diawa SV 105 or Tatula TWS SV..they are light and cast lighter items really well

I'd get a Lews BB-1 for deep cranking and a rod with the rest.
In fact, that's my next purchase.

I have a Curado DC that is pretty good for that kind of stuff. Skipping stuff I prefer spinning tackle even though I can do it with baitcasting gear.

Lews hypermag 8.3-1 they are available on eBay usually new 209-225 shipped. I’ve called American fishing legacy and asked for the 209 price I paid Last time and they did it w no issues.

I use that reel on my weightless Senko rig simply because it is the nicest reel I own and I fish that rig more than any other bait. . It works better for skipping better than my Curado DC.
