Pubs during the daytime are family oriented. On average, I’d say the food is better at the average pub vs the average bar. There are exceptions on both sides of the pond.

Evenings are for drinking at the pub, you might get a bag of crisps with your several pints of beer; people will look at you weird if you are wasting your time eating instead of drinking at a pub after 8pm or so.

You go eat after the pub has closed at the local curry place.

I don't know if it's true, but someone told me that the difference between a pub and a bar is that a pub has food and beer, but no liquor. A bar has liquor and beer, but food is optional.

I'm not sure but they don't put ice in any of their other drinks.

I go every couple of years to see family. Late 80s/early 90s it was all the rage. Started to get popular with George Strait in the late 80s when he got sort of an underground following, then it just exploded with BRC and that weirdo from Oklahoma. Then peaked with that Cotton Eye Joe remix club hit in the early/mid 90s. I’m sure it’s still around, but the two step scene across the pond isn’t what it once was.

Most pubs do have liquor, but it’s the basics (gin, vodka, whisk(e)y, rum, rarely tequila) But, people go to pubs to socialize as a community and drink beer. This has changed somewhat over the years, especially with the ladies. They are ordering more mixed drinks and less beer. If you are a bloke and don’t have a pint in your hand, people will look at you weird. Drinking a straight up whisk(e)y would also be acceptable, but you might be politely asked to leave if you request ice in it.

Don't forget to try some Shepard Pie in one. Years ago in a off the path pub in London I had some and it was the best I have ever had.
