I ran a trap line as a kid and always had sardines in the trap basket for bait. Sometimes when we got hungry they were lunch instead of bait. Washed it down with some creek water and those were some great times!

Sardines in a tin are a good thing, Some types more than others but best I had was over a hot coal grill with a good sprinkle of rock salt and some boiled potatoes with a knob of butter on them and some cold suds to wash them down

our eating habits while fishing or hunting have really changed over the years....back before we had convenience stores or fast food places we ate a lot of sardines, vienna sausages or potted meat on crackers while hunting or fishing....I've eaten my share of sardines but haven't in years, too easy to grab a box of fried chicken from convenience store or a deli sandwich from a sandwich shop....

I had the king Oscar ones yesterday in oil. Many times better than the chicken of the sea ones.
I can't wait to get the Nuri and try them... Looks like the shipping is going to be a few more weeks though.

I like em, but the wife hates me to stink up her kitchen with them. For Christmas, my kids usually give me canned sardines as a joke gift. They think it’s funny and can’t imagine how I can eat sardines. Well, this year I guess they got confused, because they gave me some canned Anchovies. Not sure I want to eat them. Maybe if I mix them with sardines...

My Dad used to put sardines in a bowl and chop them up a bit, add chopped onions and lemon juice, mix it and eat them. Good stuff. Try it.

I was in Rotterdam or Amsterdam (I forget which) at a business meal, and I ordered a Caesar Salad with chicken. The waiter looked at me funny and said they didn’t offer the chicken, but they did offer the salad with sardines. I ordered that. And I got a great salad topped with big cooked sardines. I guess they were about 3” long. Not bad, but I prefer the chicken.

Sardine filets are fine. But do you eat catfish bones and all as well?

Yeah you eat the bones and all. They are smoked and so small they are soft. After doing the research the bones and skin of the sardines in the can are really healthy for you.

I honor of this poll, I had sardines for lunch. Had a few saltines too. Then I opened the anchovies and ate a couple. Good flavor but way too salty. The wife won’t kiss me now. Says I smell like sardines.

I thought I might be the only one....go to racoon bait for us! 5:00 AM before school, skin and hang for the fur guy to come get. I could close my eyes and go back to 1978 without much complaint
