Nice place. Clean. Neat places to eat. We ate at a place called Bubba last night. Good stuff. Headed to 801 Steakhouse tonight.

State capital view from my hotel. I recommend a visit if you get the chance

There is a Fuzzys in Ankeny if you start feeling like some down home food, there are also some good eating places walking distance from your hotel, stayed in that area last November for. A few days,a lot of homeless people in the sky walks but otherwise very nice area.

I see snow. I'll have to wait for some more sun before I go.

I'm from Iowa, born and raised, but now in the DFW area.
My sister and her family still live there, suburb of Des Moines, nice place, great place to raise a family, very All-American overall.

I used to eat those sandwiches, but as I aged, I realized how bad swine was for me.

A pork tenderloin looks awesome, but I'll take a chicken-fried sandwich any day!

While heading to Canada in '87, we stopped at some truck stop near Mason City to have breakfast.

Best damn steak and eggs I've ever had. Could cut the steak with a straw.

We're having burnt ends for lunch and steak for dinner. So far so good.

Was passing through Des Moines on the morning of Aug 10 last year when derecho came though. It was too windy to eat.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.
